Do you acknowledge her?
Yes, she is  goddess Athena who invented the flute and played it only one day, as reported in my previous post.
I liked this story.
Then I wanted to paint the goddess in that happy pause , before her disappointment.
I had a nice terracotta little amphora and I decided to adorn it with this scene.
There is some imperfection in filets, but they were drawn by hand.
To fill the other side of the amphora, I created and painted  palmette decoration .

La riconoscete?
Sì, è la dea Atena che inventò il flauto e lo suonò un solo giorno, come raccontato nel post precedente.
Mi piaceva questa storia.
Allora ho voluto dipingere la dea in quella pausa felice, prima del suo disappunto.
Avevo una bella anforetta di terracotta ed ho pensato di adornarla con questa scena.
C'è qualche imperfezione nei filetti, ma sono stati tracciati a mano.
Per riempire la parte posteriore dell'anfora, ho creato e dipinto una decorazione a palmette.

19 aprile 2015,ore 22.20, si comincia!  Non più pensionata, ma .............. blogger!
Today 19th april 2015, at 22.20 hour, I begin! No more retired, but ..... blogger!

Cominciamo con questa figura femminile....
Bella, bellissima come tutte le antiche dee.
Elegante.
Si staglia potentemente contro il nero dello sfondo, grazie a poche linee essenziali, sapientemente espressive.
Chi è?
Ma è la dea Atena, è Minerva, dea della guerra e della sapienza......
...... Ma in questa occasione fu troppo guerriera e poco sapiente.
Che fa?
Deposte le armi, seduta tra gli ulivi, suona il flauto che lei stessa ha sapientemente costruito con ossa di cervo.
Gode la dea dei mirabili suoni che i suoi soffi producono, ma l'incanto è di breve durata.
Questa bella scena presto si dissolverà.
Perché?
Ai piedi della dea c'è uno specchio d'acqua. Atena, orgogliosa della sua invenzione, abbassa lo sguardo per ammirarsi, ma ... inorridisce, vedendo il suo viso deformarsi quando le guance si gonfiano d'aria. Si vede brutta e, indispettita, getta il flauto per non suonarlo mai più. Riprende le armi e se ne va, privandosi, per orgoglio, di un grande piacere.

Beautiful, beautiful as all the ancient goddesses.
Elegant.
She stands out powerfully against the black background, thanks to a few  expertly expressive lines, .
Who is she?
She is the goddess Athena, she is Minerva, goddess of war and wisdom ......
...... But on this situation she was too much warrior and only a little wise.
What is she doing?
Laid down her weapons, sitting among the olive trees, she plays the flute, which she has cleverly built with deer bones.
 The goddess enjoys of wonderful sounds that her puffs produce , but the enchantment is short.
This beautiful scene soon will dissolve.
Why?
At the foot of the goddess there is a water mirror. Athena, proud of her invention, looks down to admire herself, but ... is horrified, seeing her face deformed when cheeks inflate air. She sees herself ugly and, annoyed, throws the flute to not play it anymore. Takes up arms and goes, depriving herself, for pride, of a great pleasure.
