Mi sono alzata, ho preso la bici e sono andata alla spiaggia.
Last July 22nd I was at the seaside on the Adriatic sea and I awoke early.
I got up, I took the bike and went to the beach.
Erano le 5:50 ed il Sole era da poco salito sopra l'orizzonte mentre la Luna, all'inizio della sua fase calante e ancora alta nel cielo, cominciava la sua discesa verso ovest.
Ho scattato alcune fotografie ed ho realizzato questa composizione.
Se nei giorni successivi fossi tornata sulla spiaggia ad ammirar l'aurora dalle rosee dita. avrei potuto osservare che, giorno dopo giorno, la luna calante, si sarebbe trovata sempre più vicina al sole nascente e sempre più assottigliata, fino al 2 agosto quando la luna nuova, ormai invisibile, sarebbe sorta insieme al sole.
La luna nuova, infatti, è in congiunzione con il sole.
It was 5:50 a.m. and the sun had just risen above the horizon while the Moon, early in its waning phase and still high in the sky, was starting its descent towards the west.
I took some pictures and I realized the above composition.
If I were back in the following days on the beach to wonder at the rosy-fingered Aurora. I could see that, day after day, the waning moon would always be found closer to the rising sun and more and more thinned, until August 2nd, when the new moon, now invisible, would rise with the sun.
The new moon, in fact, is in conjunction with the sun.
